Wellhead Products

The wellhead, located above ground, acts as a connection between the equipment within the oil or gas well and the production control equipment on the surface. It provides stability and pressure, and serves as a point of attachment for the casing strings within the wellbore while also regulating the internal pressure.

Components of a Forged Wellhead

Casing strings - are pipes that traverse a specific drilling zone and serve to safeguard the surrounding areas, such as fresh water zones, from contamination. They create a barrier between the wellbore and outside regions to prevent collapses, manage varying pressure zones, and seal off high-pressure areas.

Casing head - is the bottom part of the wellhead assembly where the casing string is placed and securely sealed. It protects the inside of the casing from the external environment. A blowout preventer is responsible for maintaining surface pressure during the drilling process.

Casing bowl - is utilized in wells that have multiple casing strings, serving as a crucial component between the surface and the production casing. It is installed atop the casing head or another casing bowl to enable the further penetration of casing strings into the ground. The casing bowl plays the additional role of providing a secondary seal for enhanced wellhead pressure control.

Casing Hanger - when lowering the casing string into the bore, a casing hanger is employed to support and hold it in place. This hanger is connected to the end of the casing string and then securely suspends and seals it within the top bowl of a casing head or spool. The casing hanger also ensures the casing string is properly aligned within the wellhead and bears the weight of the entire casing system.

Crossover Flange - also referred to as a pack-off flange, is used to increase pressure between a casing spool or wellhead casing and the surface equipment. It is an uncommon safety measure employed in situations where there is a potential for a sudden and significant increase in pressure.

Tubing head - is the last component of the wellhead and is responsible for sealing the production tubing. Acting as a connection point between the tubing hanger situated at the bottom and the Christmas tree located above, the tubing head facilitates a smooth transition.
